Rethinking Digital Literacy

When asked to define digital literacy, what would you say? My first definition was "Digital literacy is the realization that one never fully attains it. One must be willing to keep reaching for the next step in their digital journey, moving forward to continue to learn more than they now know. The only way one can fail to be digitally literate is to stop trying."

"The more you know, the more you know you don't know."

Great seeing your blog start with this definition you crafted for our Rethinking Digital Literacy course, and even greater seeing how you are using the blog (at least initially) to carry the learning out of the course site and out into a larger environment where you can continue building upon your own learning, sharing resources with others, and, if all goes well, fostering an ongoing conversation with the possibility of producing meaningful results. This is a wonderful example of digital literacy in action and also serves as a great response to the challenge of taking ownership of your learning by being sure you don't lose resources that otherwise would become inaccessible when a course site closes down. Thanks for taking this step to keep the learning going; deeply appreciative for your contributions, and looking forward to following the blog to see where it leads us.
